The Amabji Durga Fort and the Agrahara Dam waterfall

Ambaji Durga is a dream hill for me for many reasons.. I have been to this hill from both the ways to hike it ( From Kailasagiri side and also from the Upparpet side and both the sides are very scenic and beautiful).. Recently I purchased a farm about 15 kms from the base of Ambaji durga so it has become an habit for me to trek this place whenever I visit my farm....

The climb from both the sides are very similar about 3 kms each way and offers a gradual trek through beautiful forest lands and then grasslands.... From the Upparpet side you also cross through a small stream in monsoon months....Eventually both the routes converge on a point about 30% is still left to the peak..

On a beautiful Sunday we planned a nice trek on a lovely November month and left Bangalore around 6am and reached the base around 7.45 after a nice breakfast...Owing to the monsoon and rains it was super misty and the mist was there about till 9am that day. We initially were moving through beautiful thick canopy of forest for about 1 km and post that it was grasslands for another 1.5 kms. It took us about 1.5 hrs to reach the first peak where there is a big temple and after 10 mins rest we climbed the final stretch to the peak where there is another old temple present. The last stretch was little steep but doable for most. There is a small fort walls at the top as well.

We spent about 30 mins at the peak with lovely breeze and post that reached the down temple and hot lunch was served as Prasadam for us. We can pay as much we want as there is no demand and the temple person also drops you back to the base in jeep if needed.

We took the Jeep and came down as my son was little sleepy and tired. Post that we went to the Agrahara lake which is 20 kms from the place towards Kolar where a small dam forms a little waterfall. After spending 30 mins there we left to Bangalore for a nice memory and much deserved Lunch.
